Direct Support Worker

Location: Greater Toronto Area

Through hands-on, person-centered services, we help our clients discover their strengths, develop independence, and connect meaningfully with their communities.

Position Overview: Direct Support Worker

As a Direct Support Worker, you will provide one-on-one or small group support to individuals with exceptional needs in their homes and community. You will promote dignity, inclusion, and independence while helping clients achieve personal goals and daily living skills.

Key Responsibilities

Implement individualized ABA-based Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).Support individuals with daily activities, personal care, and community participation Implement individualized support plans and follow behavioural or communication strategies as needed.Promote life skills development through real-life, hands-on experiences .Document progress and communicate regularly with supervisors and families. Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times Foster meaningful, empowering relationships with clients and families.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Services Worker (SSW)

• Behavioural Science, Child and Youth Care, or related field Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health needs

• Current First Aid & CPR (Level C) certification

• CPI or Safe Management (SMG)

• Clear Vulnerable Sector Check

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption (if applicable)

• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (not required)

Personal Support Worker (PSW)

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you will provide personal care and support to individuals in their homes or in the community. This includes assisting with daily routines, hygiene, mobility, and promoting quality of life in a respectful and person-centered manner.

Education & Certification:

Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate from an accredited Ontario college or program

Equivalent credentials such as DSW (Developmental Services Worker) or HCA (Health Care Assistant) may be considered

• Current CPR and First Aid certification (Level C or higher)

• Completion of additional training (e.g., Safe Management, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Medication Administration) is an asset

Experience:

Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience supporting individuals with physical or developmental disabilities

• Experience in home care, community settings, or respite programs is preferred Familiarity with mobility aids (wheelchairs, lifts), feeding tubes, and seizure protocols is an asset Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to assist with personal care, mobility, transfers, and daily routines Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and handle emergency situations calmly Reliable, empathetic, and professional approach to care

• Good documentation and time management skills

Other Requirements:

• Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6–12 months)

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption (if applicable)

• Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred but not mandatory

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
